Gold & Silver Rate
Today's gold and silver prices, explained.
How this tool will work
At launch, see daily 24K/22K gold and silver rates for major Indian cities, per gram and per 10 grams. Until then, the explainer below helps you buy smart.
How jewellery is priced
Price = gold weight × purity rate + making charges + 3% GST. Ask for the rate per gram, weight, making-charge percentage and GST as separate lines on the bill.
Always check the hallmark
BIS-hallmarked gold carries a 6-digit HUID number. Verify it on the BIS Care app before paying — it is your proof of purity.

FAQs
24K vs 22K vs 18K — what should I buy?
24K (99.9% pure) is for coins and investment. 22K (91.6%) is standard for jewellery. 18K suits diamond-studded pieces. Always check the BIS hallmark.
What are making charges?
The jeweller's labour fee, often 8–25% of the gold value, plus 3% GST on the total. Making charges are largely non-recoverable on resale.
Is digital gold or SGB better?
Sovereign Gold Bonds (when issued) pay 2.5% extra interest and are tax-free on maturity — usually the best way to invest in gold. Digital gold is convenient but check spreads and storage fees.
