How it works
Enter your annual income and deductions. We apply FY 2025-26 slabs for both regimes — old regime with standard deduction plus your 80C and other deductions, new regime with its higher standard deduction — add 4% health and education cess, and show which regime costs you less.
Example
On a ₹12 lakh salary with ₹1.5 lakh 80C deductions: old regime tax is about ₹1,17,000 while new regime tax is ₹0 (rebate up to ₹12 lakh). You save about ₹1.17 lakh with the new regime.
FAQs
Which regime is better for salaried people?
It depends on your deductions. If you claim large 80C, HRA and home-loan deductions, the old regime can win. Otherwise the new regime usually wins. This calculator compares both for your numbers.
What is standard deduction?
A flat deduction every salaried person gets before tax: ₹75,000 under the new regime and ₹50,000 under the old regime. No bills needed.
What is the 87A rebate?
If your taxable income is up to ₹12 lakh (new regime) or ₹5 lakh (old regime), your tax becomes zero. This calculator applies it automatically.
Is this calculation exact?
It is a close estimate. Surcharge on very high incomes and marginal relief are not included. Treat it as guidance, not tax advice.
